Former Vontobel CEO Joins Mirabaud

Geneva-based private bank Mirabaud & Cie has hired the former chief executive of Vontobel Bank in Geneva, Cédric Anker, as head of domestic clients. Anker, who will take up his new role on 1 October this year, will also join the private bank’s executive committee at the beginning of 2011. Besides having been CEO of Vontobel in Geneva, Anker was also a member of Vontobel's private banking executive committee, and head of the Latin-Europe market area. Anker’s appointment follows a global review into new management structures at Mirabaud, which started in 2008. This review has led to several changes at the firm, such as the arrival of three new partners: Antonio Palma, who joined on 1 January this year, and Lionel Aeschlimann and Giles Morland, who are to join at the start of January 2011. Another change involved managing the firm according to its business lines – private banking, asset management and intermediaries – instead of geographical hierarchy. A further outcome of the review is that the bank will remain a unlimited partnership; some managers will soon be eligible to become shareholders of a limited company which will invest in the group.
